iWork '08 good enough for the rest of them.

I still don’t have a compelling reason for a Word processor, spreadsheet or presentation package so Google Docs is good enough for me.

Look Out, Microsoft Office… « Caitlyn Imburgo: “When you look at just how much value iWork ‘08 provides when compared to Microsoft Office, you then realize just how much of a steal its price is. Apple has priced iWork ‘08 at $79 for a single license of the suite. Educational licenses are $71 and family 5-packs are $99. Compare that to Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, which costs a whopping $400 for a Standard edition and $150 for an educational 5-pack edition. Apple has really priced iWork ‘08 really aggressively, which really helps to tie the knot on a really attractive software package.”

LCD Lust

I know it is irrational. But..after seeing the new line of Bravia LCD HD televisions from Sony I have a powerful urge to replace my 2 year old Sony HDTV. I know I just bought my TV but these Bravia are sweet. Sigh! Maybe if money was no object I would. The 46 inch Bravia XBR is just perfect for my family room.Sony BraviaWhile I’m at it I might as well admit my lust for the new Blu-Ray high definition DVD players from Sony. The BDP-S1 is a beautiful looking machine. I had the opportunity to watch 30 minutes of SpiderMan 2 on Blu-Ray at the Sony Store in Menlo Park (NJ) and I was quite simply blown away. Wow!

Faugh a Ballaugh!

War drums from Apple. « Graceful Flavor
The PC war is being waged on so many fronts, which, believe it or not, behooves Apple more than Microsoft. Technology outstrips the average user’s ability to understand it, which, again, falls squarely into Apple’s wheelhouse.

Pardon my dramatics, but if Apple’s field general makes the right decisions, we all we have a chance to witness a company with all the potential in the world — after many hitches and near-death experiences — finally realize it. The armies are amassing now, and only a fool can’t hear the drums.

I feel it too.  The excitement can not be contained.  Every time a friend or family member calls me to ask what they can do to make their computer work better, I answer "Get a Mac".  Recently my Uncle, who suffered under a series of "custom built" Windows beasts, took my advice and bought an iMac.  He now sees the light.  "It just works!".

"But it's expensive", other complain.  A BMW 3 is expensive compared to a Toyota Camry but the Camry won't do 0-60 in 6.12 seconds or the quarter mile in less than 15 seconds.  You get what you pay for.
