Into the woods: 2012 Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk

I went for a walk in Mercer County Park today. I wasn’t alone. I walked with a small group of local photographers — amateurs and pros. We were participating in the 5th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk. Our walk leader was Alina Bilach a well known and respected local photographer.

I attend these photos walks because I love meeting and chatting with other photographers. The social aspect of photography is important to me. I talked to an elderly woman who told me about her son and grandchildren and shooting with wide format film cameras. I talked to a woman who had bought a new camera and needed some help learning to use it. Later at Brother’s Pizza, we found out we both had Type 1 diabetes. I think she is the only adult with Type 1 that I know in the area.

The High Line

I spent the evening in Manhattan walking along the High Line taking photos of pedestrians and the New York City skyline. I was supposed to meet up with some other photographers, but I missed my train and was forced to take a later train, arriving very late. I took the New York subway from Penn Station to 14 Street and entered the High Line at Grovnesvoort Street.

The High Line is incredible. I don't know how to describe it. Except for the pedestrians, the noise from the street, and the tall buildings surrounding the park, I would have forgotten I was in a large city.

Sometimes

Sometimes I'm just not motivated to do anything. No code. No work. No photography. Sometimes I just want to sit and do nothing. Sometimes that means watching some television of spending time reading the tech blogs. Sometimes.

Yesterday while we were driving back from an event I looked across at the Princeton Rocky Hill airport. I liked the look of the sky so I pulled over onto the road leading into the airport and snapped a few shots on my iPhone 5.

Here's my photo of the week. Sometimes, it's just dumb luck.
