Back in the early days of Fall 2001, Bhavna and I took a leisurely stroll up the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park Trail with our young ones, Shaan and Kiran, in tow. Our starting point was the Rocky Hill trailhead, and from there, we ambled northward toward Griggstown.
As we walked along, Shaan was engrossed in his little adventure, darting around, collecting leaves and tiny, charming pebbles that always seem to captivate children's attention. At that moment, my own concerns about my recent unemployment, coming so shortly after our home purchase in September, seemed to fade into the background.
It's hard to forget that September—the one shadowed by the tragic terrorist attacks that shook the entire nation. The market effects of those events blew across Wall Street and the local employment landscape, causing many businesses to adopt a more cautious stance when it came to expanding their staff.
