What to do?

Most of the February snow has melted. The sun is shining. I'm enjoying the [natural light] coming from the kitchen window, and I am keen to hike a trail, but the ground is still swampy.

I kept a large Philodendron just for the architecture of it's leaves. One exquisite leaf in a vase was a lovely place to rest the eyes. It was given a new home to make room for a, I'm embarrassed to say, a backless cat couch so I could push it to the window and the cats could sunbathe when the West Michigan gray cooperated. They still love the couch. Is Alphie a rescued feral?

    1. I have some experience with the Michigan Gray. I was a graduate student at UoM, Ann Arbor and then lived in Ann Arbor, working at GM for a year after graduation.

A backless cat couch so that your cats can sunbathe sounds like a beautiful idea. The front of our home faces West. My youngest daughter’s cat, Camilla, loves curling up on the duvet on my side of the bed to catch the late afternoon sunlight. In the morning, she sits on my daughter’s bedroom window.

I guess you noticed the notch in Alphie ear. He was found as a feral kitten, and we adopted him about three months ago after my wife fell in love with my daughter’s cat. Both Alphie and Camilla were adopted from SAVE, but Camilla had lived at SAVE for about a year before adoption.

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to get along, so we keep them on separate floors. 🤷

Cats not getting along....so sorry. That can go south in so many ways.

        1. Yep. Camilla is about three years old and less active, and loves to lay in the sun. Alphonso (Alphie) is about one year old, more active, and loves to play.

  2. Astonishing what a little sun can do. I was able to sit on the patio without freezing today with a cup of coffee...nice 🙂

    1. Ah … what a wonderful idea. I think I’ll do the same but with beer instead of tea.

  3. It’s good for your sanity. A blessing that the snow has melted and warmer weather is on the way. Put on rubber boots and get a hike in.

    1. HI Daniel, there is still a lot of snow on the ground but each day more is revealed. We’ve been blessed with a week of sunny days. I’ve done two hikes so far.
