Putting music on your iPod might land you in jail

I thought 2007 would end on a high note but not after reading this.

In legal documents in its federal case against Jeffrey Howell, a Scottsdale, Ariz., man who kept a collection of about 2,000 music recordings on his personal computer, the industry maintains that it is illegal for someone who has legally purchased a CD to transfer that music into his computer.

According to the RIAA I am a thief and they are liable for losses because I have taken my CD collection and converted for use on my iPod. Really? Really!!!(Via Download Uproar: Record Industry Goes After Personal Use - washingtonpost.com.)
