Gemütlichkeit

I learned about the word Gemütlichkeit while reading an article about German beer gardens. According to Wikipedia:

Gemütlichkeit is a German-language word used to convey the idea of a state or feeling of warmth, friendliness, and good cheer. Other qualities encompassed by the term include cosiness, peace of mind, and a sense of belonging and well-being springing from social acceptance.

This word describes how I feel when I visit Flounder Brewing.

This frame is another from a 35mm roll of Lomography Color 100, which I exposed over the summer. I used my Minolta XD-11 and MD Rokkor-X a lot this summer.

Hello

One of the better exposed and adequately focused 35mm frames from a 36-exposure roll of Lomography Color 100.

From my perspective, Lomography specialises in making 35mm and instant film products for people who enjoy making photographs that look like they were captured on film cameras and left to age for 30 years. The cameras are usually low-tech, and the film stocks do not appear to produce accurate colours and white balance. Most of what Lomography sells is unappealing to me. However, I am curious, so I have been experimenting with Color 100 from Lomography.

The 35mm film cartridge was developed at Black Lab Imaging in Flemington, New Jersey. The scans were made using my now "normal" scanning workflow.

I like the deep shadows in this frame. However, the entire scene has taken on a bluish car. The skin colours are rubbish; lighter skin tends towards pink, while darker skin looks like purple mud.

Main Street Somerville with Lomography Color 100

The borough of Somerville is 24 kilometres (about 35 minutes in the car) from my home and is the county seat for Somerset County. Like most of New Jersey, it was settled in colonial times (18th century) primarily by the Dutch, who purchased land from the English. Most of the "action" in Somerville happens on the strip of Main Street between North Gaston Avenue and the circle between County Route 202 and County Route 206.

Downtown Somerville is mostly pubs and restaurants, and boutique shops. Some time ago, a section of Division Street between North Main Street and South Street was closed to vehicular traffic and turned into an outdoor mall. Bhavna and I wanted to complete our Summer Sip and See passports with visits to Village Brewing and Jersey Cyclone Brewing. We had our passports stamped at Flounder Brewing, Bellemara Distillery, and Burnt Hills Cider earlier in the summer. We used the opportunity to walk around this part of the main street.

I loaded a 36-exposure roll of Lomography Colour 100 into my Minolta X-700 with MD Rokkor-X 45mm f/2 lens. The results are not what I expected. I suspect that I underexpose each frame.
