Isolation Photo Project, Day 21

A mostly uneventful day. On Amazon Prime, I found a show called Inside the Loop that grabbed my attention for the day. I watched the first 7 episodes while drinking "Someone's More Tarty" by Flounder Brewing Co.

My wife spent most of the afternoon looking through 20 years of photographs in my Adobe Lightroom catalogue. She was searching for images containing her dad.

The rental lens goes back tomorrow. I think I got good use from it and when budget permits I want to add it to my kit. It's an expensive lens though; over $1000.

Isolation Photo Project, Day 20

I had rented a macro lens to do some macro flower photography on the weekend. But I was denied the opportunity when the federal, state and municipal governments closed the parks (which I don't use), forests and woods they control. I started out just shooting the things around my backyard. But I started to feel like an idiot. There are open spaces not under authoritarian control.

I visited one of the open spaces in my town that was not closed by the federal, state or local "we don't give a damn about your mental health" authorities.

Isolation Photo Project, Day 19

Last week I saw so many Sourland Mountain wildflowers that I wished I had a macro lens. On Sunday, I rented the Fujinon XF80mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro with the hope that I could revisit some of the trails where I found wildflowers on the weekend. Then, of course, later in the week, the governor and state counties closed all-state and county parks, forests and woods. Then the federal government did the same.

Some of the places where I found wildflowers were inaccessible. But it was too late to cancel the lens rental, which arrived on Thursday. I didn’t even open the box until today.

I’ve lived in this town for 19 years. I know some “secret” spots, places where I can get access to the woods. Areas that are not under federal, state or county jurisdiction. I won’t be telling you where those places are. I visited one such site this afternoon, but the air is too cold, and the flowers have decided to retreat. There is always tomorrow.
