Wireless headphones recommendations, please.

First, let me say that I understand and accept that Apple will not put a headphone jack back into the iPhone and will most likely eventually remove it from iPads and The Mac as well.

However, I also accept that shitty Bluetooth audio is the only solution. But when the Bluetooth headphone battery drains I am often left with only two choices; stop listening to music until the headphone battery is charged or go on a treasure hunt for the highly misplaced "pigtail" adapter that Apple included with the iPhone 7.

This morning while in the middle of a music-inspired session at the keyboard (my weekends are for server patching, and Lightroom photo editing) the battery on the headphones dumped, and I reached for the wired headphones wishing I had another set of charged headphones. And I realized I had a third option.

So ... I welcome recommendations for quality wireless over the ear headphones. And NO! Beats do not count. I love my Grado Labs SR60's, but I have used them less and less since I got the iPhone 7. Using the adapter is a PITA. I want something with the quality of the SR60 but ... wireless. And I want to be able to charge the device while listening to music. And I want the option to go wired when I want to.

  1. I don't know the quality of the Grados you have (or any Grado, really), but I got a pair a little while ago that sound really nice. They're model "E-7" by Cowin (this specific model on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2wilPAr). They're great for a number of reasons, such as they go AROUND the ear, not pressing ON them. They're bluetooth, with SELECTABLE active noise cancellation (not always in noise-cancelling mode), built-in microphone and some remote controls (volume, answer/hangup I think). The cups also turn to make them flatter, thus making then not buldge noticeably when packing them or putting them in a bag. They also charge via a micro-USB, so HURRAY for standards! Finally, and here's the kicker, they have a 3.5mm jack to use in wired mode, if the battery's dead, or you just want them wired!

    1. Hi Hugo. The Grado SR60 are considered good quality headphones. The Grado family has been making headphones for decades. The E-7 seems sleek and I love the fact that they can be charge with standard micro-USB and can be used in wired mode. I'll take a look. Thanks for the recommendation.
