From a usability point of view, I think too many digital cameras are designed like gadgets with two many menu options etc. that get in the way. I like the retro 35mm film dials and knobs on my Fuji. The frustration with my Nikon is one reason I switched to Fujifilm X.

However, I think that using a 35mm film cameras is like doing my own oil change. One doesn't do it because it's better, one does it because one derives some fun from it. If you sill derive joy from exposing a roll of film, keep doing it.
