Weathered

I have severe allergies to pollen. Not tropical plant pollen or tropical grass pollen. I am allergic to the trees and grass that grown in this part of the United States. Today my eyes are itchy and watery. My nose and throat are itchy and I spent most of the day sneezing.

I didn't have these allergies growing up. They developed when I was in my early twenties.

I have tried allergy shots and they worked for a while. At least until I had a major allergic reaction in the doctor's office and the nurses shot me up with epinephrine. That's something I never want to experience again.

Last year I survived on a combination of Zyrtec, Singulair, and Nasonex. It doesn't seem to be working this year. It's rough on me.

I feel trapped. I spend the last four months stuck inside suffering under the depressive grey and cold of winter. And now that the weather is changing. Now that the landscape if full of life and the skies full of colour, I am stuck inside again.

I feel the way this doorknob looks. Battered and worn.
