Apple's new iPhone could do to the cell phone market what the iPod did to the portable music player market: crush it pitilessly beneath the weight of its own superiority. This is unfortunate for anybody else who makes cell phones, but it's good news for those of us who use them.

  1. Here in the USA our cell phones are much crappier than the cool phones in Europe and Asia. I hate phone keyboards and user interfaces. They all suck ass. I hate gimmicky phones with cameras, MP3 players, game cards etc. When I am broken down on the side of the road or stuck in a ditch somewhere none of that crap will help me make a call for help. But you are correct....."people are looking for simple phone functions with great multimedia support."

  2. Sorry to say, but this one cannot compete with WMobile and Symbian (smartphones/communicators ) based phones. I have at the moment HTC Artemis, and iPhone is no match. But iPhone will be truly a hit for niche where people are looking for simple phone functions with great multimedia support.

BTW, does it support .ogg .... guess no.

Let's see what iPhone 2 will be like.
