rue anemone (thalictrum thalictroides) is a herbaceous perennial native to woodland in eastern North America.

Spring Azure Butterfly, Sourland Mountain Range

Bloodroot Sanguinaria canadensis — An early spring flower - Bloodroot or Sanguinaria canadensis - with showy, large blooms and interesting foliage. Usually found growing on slopes in rich forests, sometimes along Sourlands roadsides near forest. Pollinated by native bees and flies, seeds dispersed by forest ants.

On Saturday -- before the storm broke -- we engaged in a bit of family fun. Bhavna had registered for use to take part in a geocaching hike in the Sourlands Mountain Reserve.
