Too Darn Hot

Several years ago1 my wife and I were on vacation with her family. We rented a home on Sandbridge in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was our first vacation with all her siblings and cousins and the kids. Our kids are the elders. Almost 18 years separate my eldest from my brother-in-laws youngest. But my kids had fun playing in the sand with the toddlers. It was a hot week in August and when the sun and sand became too hot unbearable we retired poolside for some refreshment and cooling off.

My nephew seemed to be having a difficult time with the sun on this particular day. He looked too hot and bothered. But he’s all set to cool down poolside.

Sand

Created by photographer Frank Jansen, the Tuesday Photo Challenge is a weekly theme-based challenge for photographers of all kinds to share both new and old photography.

Well ... as I mentioned to Frank in the comments, I don't live near the ocean, and with my weekend schedule and the rain, I most likely would not have a new photo for the Sand theme. The ones listed below are from a family vacation to Sandbridge, Virginia Beach and Rodanthe, Outerbanks. Enjoy.

One Word Photo Challenge: Dragonfly

This picture was taken in the backyard of a vacation home in the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach. Technically this is a damselfly. When they are resting, dragonflies spread their wings like a helicopter.
