Placebo Effect #2

[exif id="32007"]

Troon Brewing is closed this weekend but I have a crowler from last weekend. I am drinking Placebo Effect #2, an American IPA by Troon served in glassware by Tired Hands Brewing.

According to the information on Untappd.

A grist of nearly 50% oats, brewed with lactose, and hopped with Eureka and Simcoe.

Cheers! Oh, wait ...

"What can I do for you Norm?"

"Well, I am going to need something to kill time before my second beer. Uh, how about a first one?"

Unusual

Troon Brewing’s A More Perfect Union is an American IPA hopped entirely with a hop variety called Hüll Melon developed at the Hop Research Institute in Hüll, Germany. But what makes this IPA is the unusual conditioning. The ale is brewed with a small amount of lactose and then conditioned on wood from the Palo Santo. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”. Tom let me sniff from a bag containing some wood chips and my nose was filled with the aroma of incense. The tree, part of the citrus family, is related to Frankincense and Myrrh.

This is an unusual brew indeed.

Is beer drinking a spiritual and mystical experience? Can a beer help allay negative energy? Does it have medicinal properties?

I don’t now for sure. But after a pint or two of A More Perfect Union I am less grumpy than when I left the office. This is not unusual after I drink ales from Troon Brewing.

Apocalyptic Visions

One sip, and I could immediately feel the transformation happening. Time seemed to stand still. I knew that I had uncovered memories of experiences from another time and place.

Areas of my mind that had lain dormant were awoken. Excitatory neurotransmission increased, and into my mind flowed thoughts of the meaning of existence.

Who am I? Why am I here? What is the meaning of this life?

In a flash, I had uncovered a vision of heavenly secrets that coalesced around a set of earthly realities.

“Beer is life!”
