Sony HDR-CX7

I bought a Sony HDR-CX7 last month. The Sony is an HD camcorder that records video and still images to a Sony Memory Stick. It was while testing out the photo features that it suddenly hit me. This isn’t just a camcorder. This is a 4.6-megapixel image camera with a 10x optical zoom lens!

Here are the specifications for the Sony HDR-CX7 camcorder.

  • ISO: The ISO range for the Sony HDR-CX7 extends from ISO 100 to ISO 1200 for optimal exposure control in various lighting conditions.
  • Aperture: The aperture range of the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens on the Sony HDR-CX7 is around f/1.8 - f/2.8. This aperture range allows for flexibility in controlling the amount of light entering the camera.
Sensor Size: The Sony HDR-CX7 features a 12.9-inch ClearVid CMOS sensor. The diagonal measurement of the sensor is approximately 7.60 millimetres (6.92 crop factor).
  • Focal Length: The focal length range of the Sony HDR-CX7's lens is equivalent to 37mm - 370mm in 35mm film terms. This range allows me to adjust the focal length to capture subjects at different distances, from wide-angle shots to close-ups.
