Sand

Created by photographer Frank Jansen, the Tuesday Photo Challenge is a weekly theme-based challenge for photographers of all kinds to share both new and old photography.

Well ... as I mentioned to Frank in the comments, I don't live near the ocean, and with my weekend schedule and the rain, I most likely would not have a new photo for the Sand theme. The ones listed below are from a family vacation to Sandbridge, Virginia Beach and Rodanthe, Outerbanks. Enjoy.

Beach Self Me

I seldom make photographs of my self. My daughter, Kiran thinks I take dorky selfies. I most likely do.

I'm not sure why I chose to do a selfie. The thought just happened upon me. It took several tries to get the timing right on the timer. I set the camera to 10s, but the 20s worked best. In my rush to get into position, I sat down a bit too hard on the sand and hurt my tail bone. Ouch!

On the Beach in Salvo, North Carolina

It's a long trek to the beach from the house.

It's a long trek to the beach from the house we rented in Salvo, North Carolina. The dry and soft powdery sand makes walking challenging. It can easily take up to 15 minutes to traverse the path from the house and over the dunes to the beach.

I wish I had bought a lighter tripod, but my budget limited my choices. Carrying the tripod is a chore, so for this walk to the beach, I brought nothing but my iPhone. In panorama mode and decent light, it does adequately.
