2nd Act Beer's House Kölsch

I am drinking a House Kölsch by 2nd Act Beer @ Pheasant's Landing.

Crisp.

Crisp.

  • Beer: House Kölsch
  • Style: Kölsch
  • Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.8%
  • IBU: 22
  • My rating: 3.75/5
  • Brewer's notes: Just like the steady 4/4 pulse of a deep house track, this hop forward Kölsch-style ale will keep you bumpin’ all day (and all night). The low alcohol content, medium body, and crisp finish make this a digestible brew to keep you smooth and steady during an afternoon of enjoyment or an evening of celebration. Subtle notes of biscuit and toast are generated by the malts and combine forces with the sauvignon-blanc-esque esters produced from the yeast to create a plethora of flavors for your tastebuds to savor. We flexed our American roots by utilizing our hop regimen to layer the stone-fruit jam into a smattering of citrus-pine seasoning to spruce up the bouquet. Our brewer’s delicate touch keeps the hops balanced with the malt flavors and yeast esters. It’s the type of beer you can stop, sip, and appreciate. It’s the type of beer to imbibe while dancing the night away. It’s the type of beer that captures the timeless, versatile, and easy-beat vibe of the House genre. Keep the party rolling with the House Kölsch!

Trillium Brewing Company's Sprang

I am drinking a Sprang by Trillium Brewing Company @trilliumbrewing. Pilner's aren't usually my thing. But I like Kölsch and this one is excellent. I could easily picture myself hovering over a grill while downing a few of these.

Pilner's aren't usually my thing. But I like Kölsch and this one is excellent. I could easily picture myself hovering over a grill while downing a few of these.

  • Beer: Sprang
  • Style: Kölsch
  • Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.9%
  • IBU: 0
  • My rating: 4.25/5
  • Brewer's notes: Originally brewed as our hoppy welcome to Spring after the long, dark months of winter, this low ABV, kölsch inspired ale is cool fermented and dosed with Nelson Sauvin. Lower fermentation temperature slows the yeast's metabolism and provides balance by gently subduing super-fruity esters and spicy phenols. Sprang is refreshingly light bodied with aromatics of earthy evergreen, passion fruit, and faint doughy malt. Flavors of concord grape, mango, and herbaceous white wine interweave with cracker-crisp, pilsner malt character and minimal bitterness. The finish is dry with a lasting touch of grain.

We are a family owned and operated brewery in the Fort Point Channel neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. We created Trillium to realize our dream of bringing creative and flavorful beers to you. These beers are what we envision might have been made today, if a centuries old beer culture had naturally evolved in New England. To achieve this vision, we stand our craft beers on the shoulders of native ingredients and artisan practices, balancing them with modern-day expertise.
