In 1824 Thomas Jefferson deemed coffee "the favorite drink of the civilised world." Monticello.org
Thomas Jefferson was born April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, Virginia and died July 4, 1826, Monticello. I started reading more about him recently. Just because. I found some of the information fascinating.
Thomas Jefferson -- author of the Declaration of Independence and the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom, third president of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia -- voiced the aspirations of a new America as no other individual of his era. As a public official, historian, philosopher, and plantation owner, he served his country for over five decades.Monticell.org
Today I'm drinking Allegro Coffee Roasters Sumatra-Lintong coffee from Whole Foods. Bhavana liked it. She noted that the taste had hints of fruit. I think this heavy-bodied coffee had notes of grapefruit and fresh herbs.
The mug I picked up in Washington, D.C., a few years ago, during a family vacation.
I've enjoyed shooting with my AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 recently. The bokeh at f/2.8 is lovely.
I like having "Live View" on my D5100. It's allowed me to get different perspectives with my camera. It was mostly rainy this week and without Live View, I would have avoided taking certain shots. Instead of lying down in the mud or wet grass I can place the camera low and use Live View to compose my image.
The coffee is freshly brewed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from beans I bought on Monday in Rocky Hill at Buy the Cup.
A few years ago on Flickr I started following a California photographer and barista who posted a photo each day of his first cup of brewed coffee. For some reason he came to mind recently when I started using my new coffee grinder. I decided to take a photo of the first cup of coffee brewed in my new grinder. This will be my second photo and I'm not sure I'm starting some sort of new project but I'll continue taking photos -- maybe vary the scene a bit -- until I get bored with doing so.
The coffee is Tonx Quilanga De Loja, from the Fapecafes Cooperative in Ecuador. It's been sitting in a vacuüm sealed bag since February 10th. Not ideal I know but I wanted to use it with the new grinder and procrastination set in ... etc.
Incidental note: I took a look at dogmilque's blog and noted that he's got Tonx in his blogroll. Perhaps us coffee drinkers are geeks of a kind.
