Fujifilm Film Simulation Challenge Roll 8 : Vintage Kodachrome

For this 36 frame "roll of film" for the Film Simulation Challenge, I chose Ritchie's Vintage Kodachrome Film Simulation recipe. According to Ritchie:

… I accidentally discovered a vintage Kodachrome recipe for my Fujifilm X100F, based on Classic Chrome. By “accidentally” I mean that I had no intentions of creating a Kodachrome look. I captured a RAW image and played around with it in the camera’s built-in RAW editor. I was trying to see what crazy looks I could get if I really messed around with the settings. One of the versions that I created reminded me of vintage Kodachrome.

Ritchie's happy accident allowed me to capture these in-camera JPEG images. I have never photographed with any Kodachrome film stock so I don't know how accurate Ritchie's recipe is to the original film. However, I do like the results.

If it were possible to add an S-curve in-camera, I would add a slight fade to give an old photographic print look.

What do you think?

Along FDR Drive from Old Slip to Broad Street

I am still recovering from my experience in the hospital but by Tuesday I felt well enough to try walking as opposed to the painfully strained leg manoeuvre I had created to get me from the front door to the car. This week I grabbed my messenger bag, a Kati roll, and found a seat along FDR drive. Once I had dispatched my lunch, I pulled out my Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, attached my Glif tripod mount, mounted my camera and strolled the FDR between Old Slip and Broad Street. All images were shot with Adobe Lightroom Mobile.

Lightroom Mobile uses Adobe's cloud to syncs your images (and edits) back to my catalogue in Lightroom desktop.

Lights on Broad Street

These are two of the images I captured of City Hall in the Center City section of Philadelphia taken during the night photography course Philadelphia After Dark field trip led by the instructor, David Hartz.

These are both HDR images with one image used as the main element for the light trails. I applied the perspective correction and a film filter to both HDR images.

I'm not sure which one I like better.; the one that was captured at blue hour while the sky was overcast or the one captured during the cross over to full night.

Which one do you prefer?
