It's the mindset of the users

I think Michael Garofalo's comment is a typical statement about the challenges some Android developers face. I think it lends credence to the argument that the Android Market and eco-system is primarily designed to sell Google Ads. Android is open source... so supposedly everything on there is supposed to be free. It's not just a problem of the Android Market, which really isn't so different from Apple's App Store.
