Single Silo Series: Ultra Zappa by Source Brewing

Single Silo Series: Ultra Zappa by Source Farmhouse brewing.

This is the first time I have submitted a beer photograph for the Lens Artist Photo Challenge. This week we must find images that feature a subject that begins with the letter "S". Ultra Zappa is a Double New England IPA by the Source Brewing, part of their Single Silo Series of rotating, single-hopped IPAs. Bhavna made spicy lentil soup for dinner and the perfect accompaniment for an India Pale Ale.

  • Brewers notes:

Ultra Zappa is the latest release in our Single Silo Series of rotating, single-hopped, Imperial NEIPAs.

This beautiful, hazy brew features a one-of-a-kind, indigenous, US hop varietal called Zappa.

Much like the music of its namesake Frank Zappa, this neomexicanus breed was found growing “wild and free” in the mountains of New Mexico before being cultivated and developed by hop farmers in recent years.

As always with our #SingleSiloSeries NEIPAs, the hop bitterness is kept in check and the hop flavors and aromas are pushed to the max. Major whirlpool and dry hop additions pack this tasty treat to the brim with delicious Zappa hop character.

The medium body has a delicately soft mouthfeel fluffed up with flaked oats and wheat and the finish is characterized by intense hop flavor and a gentle lingering hop bitterness.

We get notes of bright, zesty lime, grapefruit pith, evergreen forest, green peppercorns, spicy dankness, underripe mango, Thai papaya salad, mint, and freshly crushed pine needles.
