Shared Mobile Data Plans: Who Benefits?

> After doing the math, it turns out that shared data plans are a good value only for a specific type of customer: A high-income family with several data-hungry devices and chatty kids who send lots of text messages.

It seems like the carriers want to force customers back to using the “phone” and less so the “computer” part of smartphones. My kids don’t have smartphones now but … my son is thirteen and my daughter is 11. In the fall we plan on upgrading our iPhones to the next generation and passing down the current ones to the kids. I guess then we’ll fit at least one part of the data plan equation.
