The High Line, New York’s only elevated park, is a brilliantly-conceived conversion of an historic out-of-use railroad trestle into a public landscape. Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighborhood, is connected to the northerly section of the High Line. Its “extraordinary centerpiece”, just opened this year, is The Vessel, a “soaring new landmark meant to be climbed”. The High Line offers photographers some of the best views in New York, intriguing street photography and interesting composition opportunities. The Vessel, with its spiral staircase, provides us with “new perspectives of the city (and one another) from different heights, angles and vantage points.”
We’ll begin with a discussion of composition and camera settings. As evening approaches, we will enter the vessel for an hour of amazing low-light and night shooting.
