June 17th, 2011 - Dead!

I walked along the footpath near the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Rocky Hill when I came upon this carcass. I don’t know what it is. I think it might be a deer fawn. I don’t see any canine teeth, the bones are small, and fur is strewn along the ground. Yeah, it’s probably deer.

I think it’s been dead for a while. There is no meat on the bones. The local insects, small animals and birds have picked every bit of flesh from the body.

It was probably injured by a car while crossing the road.
