Help Spread Aware of Diabetes

On June 15, 2006 my life changed. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Being an information junkie and netizen I went straight to my computer looking for information on this disease; it's treatment, risks, and challenges. I found a lot of technical information but something was lacking. I wanted a more personal experience. I kept looking and soon discovered a web site called TuDiabetes.com that had recently been created by Manny Hernandez.

TuDiabetes.com® is an Online Community where the members help each other out, educate ourselves and share the steps we take every day to stay healthy while living with this very serious condition.

From talking to members I've learn how to control my blood glucose, how foods and emotion affect my diabetes, and made some wonderful friendships. The web site has helped transform my life with diabetes. Now, Manny, and TuDiabetes needs my (your) help to support the Diabetes Hands Foundation.

In March 2008, we founded the Diabetes Hands Foundation to serve as an umbrella for TuDiabetes.com and EsTuDiabetes.com, along with the diabetes awareness programs that we run.

The Diabetes Hands Foundation sponsors programs such as "Word in Your Hand" and "No Sugar Added Poetry" to spread awareness about the disease and to build community.

This is an opportunity to help give something back. Please donate as generously as you can via this link.

  1. Welcome to the world of blood-sugar monitors and carb counting, Khurt. I've been a diabetic for over 12 years now. Feel free to drop me a note if you need some pointers or doctor references in the Princeton area.

    1. Claude,
I took a look at your blog and twitter profile. I think we have a lot of background in common. I know the Director of Security for Dow Jones in Plainsboro.
