January 25, 2011 - Jaali Hathi

A good friend brought this back for me from a trip to India. The intricate latticework is called jaali, an ornamental pattern constructed through the use of calligraphy and geometry. It is used heavily in Indian architecture. Hathi is the Hindi word for elephant.
