Breakfast at Thomas Sweet Cafe

Thomas Sweet Cafe

I decided to take my Wednesday morning status meeting WebEx conference from Thomas Sweet Cafe. It's been a long time since I've done that. I had a blueberry scone and a small cappuccino. The cafe offers free Wi-Fi, but the connection is, and bandwidth is not great. However, the connection to the Xfinity hotspot was strong and stable.

  1. I like the way you mix it up Khurt. Working from anywhere, especially a dandy place like this would certainly break the monotony. I've often wondered who was the first person to design set-ups like this where people can come, have a scone and a coffee, plus stay awhile to read, study, or work on their laptops. Very cool idea which has caught on around the globe, with options to boot.

    1. Hi Jen, I was going to try another place this morning but woke up too late. I feel privileged to be able to do this. Remote work is something I have wanted for two decades.

  2. You surely take the term telecommuting to the max! I would love to take a webex or skype from a nice place like that with no distractions. I did a webex one time while on the road with my video on. Had folks asking if I was going to do an Karaoke like James Corden.

    1. When working remotely, I have mostly sat in front of the iMac while logged into a Citrix virtual desktop session. I have been doing that for over a year. I only dawned on me recently, that I was limiting myself to one location for no good reason. I have a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, and as long as the WiFi is reliable, I can work from anywhere. The WebEx is every Wednesday at 7 AM to accommodate the UK team. Do you know what time local (Mercer, Middlesex, etc.) parks open? Maybe I'll work from one of those on Friday.?
