Slow Sunrise at Rodanthe Pier

I drove down to Rodanthe Pier this morning. I was determined to get a shot of the pier in the early morning light of magic hour. I had my Nikon, my tripod, my neutral density filter.

But while waiting between frames, I placed my iPhone 6 in the side mount on my tripod. I mostly use it for controlling my camera when using the TriggerTrap software and dongle.

I took a few test shots using the Slow Shutter app set to a shutter speed of 60 seconds. I locked in the focus on the end of the pier and set the initial exposure but enabled auto exposure. I applied the Dramatic preset in Photogene 4.

I like the result. I hope the images I captured on my Nikon are as good. I think I understand why the compact camera market has declined.
